Your Church Is Too Small

The Brilliance of Your Church Is Too Small is that it comes by way of a story. The story is that of the author, John H. Armstrong. This book came to me at a time in which my own journey was one of confusion and discord. In order for any journey to progress one must first find the language to define that which is happening around and within oneself. One must also find an advocate who has the courage to clearly and artfully articulate their dilemma while providing a safe place to engage the subject matter.

Inviting the reader to enter his story, John serves as a guide for those lost in the chaotic mist of evangelical schism and faction. Participating in this journey with John has done a number of things for me that no other book has. It has served as a beacon of light in a vast ocean of darkness. There was and is not enough theological language to alleviate the discord that many feel within the body of Christ today. In fact, theological language in many ways has served as the blade with which unity is severed. Therefore, in the telling of his story, Armstrong engages his reader not with a persuasive speech or a theological discourse per se, but with the genuine transformation that took place in his own life as he began to see with clarity the call to which Christ has beckoned us in his work.
